The end of the road for Demba Ba

ALAN PARDEW is ready to replace wantaway Demba Ba with Ukraine striker Artem Milevskiy.

Newcastle boss Pards has so far failed to talk Ba into signing a long-term deal.
And Toon fear a £7million bid in January, triggering a buy-out clause in the Senegal star’s contract.
But Pards knows Milevskiy, 27, can leave Dynamo Kiev on the cheap. Kiev wanted £14m when Roy Hodgson tried to sign him at Liverpool.
Now his contract is running down and Kiev will take £6m rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.
The striker’s agent Barry O’Connor confirmed: “There is plenty of interest from more than one club in England.”

In my opinion this is for sure not the right option, they need to do their best to keep a hold of Demba Ba he is such an asset to the team and could be the differene between finishing 5th again and finishing 12th or so. With so many players out with injuries Pardew cannot afford to replace players and bring someone new in to replace him. We need to add to the squad we have, we simply are not good enough at the moment. There is not enough quality in the depth of the squad that is why we are under performing!

Future of Technology

This has been by far my favourite question of the week in my class. We had to discuss what our thoughts are towards the future of technology.

After doing research I found some exciting stuff from a website

"
Elon University recently unveiled a series of future scenarios they've compiled from asking industry leaders, analysts and activists a series of questions about major tech advances they expect by 2020.  You can find good snippets from the report here at Pew Internet.
One thing the report goes over is the increasing use of mobile internet as the method of connecting to the World Wide Web.  "The mobile device will be the primary connection tool to the internet for most people in the world in 2020."  The go on to cite various examples such as the increasing computing power of mobile phones, how applications are increasingly easy to use and operate, and of course the cost of phones drop everyday (anyone heard the rumor that Wal-Mart would be selling the iPhone for $99?)
On one hand I feel bad for those '$100 Laptop' people who tried so hard to make a cheap laptop and have pretty much failed, but on the other hand we have amazing products that do even more for the same price, and they're small.  While the idea of a third world student dutifully doing their homework on a cellphone may seem strange, by 2020 we'll be seeing developments of amazing heads-up displays as well as the nearly complete removal of the touchscreen as a device.  Infrared beams can replace a touchscreen and rolllable OLED screens will allow for larger displays in much smaller gadgets."

To me after reading this, does it not get you excited about what the future of technology will bring to the table and is for sure something to be really looking forward too.  I know if the price is right I want to be up to date with the latest gadgets etc. within the future because the world of technology is constantly changing and is something that I want to stay a part of.

Podcasting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsSC2vx7zFQ

The Video I have chosen is titled 'How bad do you want it' I chose this video for many specific reasons. Firstly I use this video for self motivation, because I am a very active person, at times I need a little bit motivation and doing so I always watch this video. Basically It is an athlete putting himself through pain to execute success. It lets you understand that nothing is impossible, if you want it that bad the only person stopping you is yourself. While the video is playing though, if you listen to the words that are spoken within the video, it is all refers to the name of the video.
I think this a very good video, it has the key ingredients in my eyes for a successful podcast;
  • A story within the video for sure gives it more meaning just like the one above
  • Music being played to attract the audience and to flow with the video, in this case it is slow but powerful
  • Voice over or Natural sounds, such as hearing a person breathe adds to the quality of the video
  • Takeaway, making sure the message of the video is clear and the viewer being impressed
These are the rules I would follow if I was to create my own podcast.

Biding their time

Well there is controversy at my home team Newcastle United, our more effective player is now making demands if the club still want to keep him.

The Ba camp claim that Newcastle did not honour their promise in the summer to increase his wages to a round £50k. But Ba did stay on Tyneside after a move to Galatasaray fell through because of his £100,000-a-week demands.
Ba does not seem to be hitting it off with his fellow Senegal striker Papiss Cisse.
Indeed avid watchers of Newcastle claim that Ba often shoots for goal when Cisse is in a better position and crying out for a pass.
Whatever Ba’s intentions, Newcastle will not allow him to move unless they have a replacement lined up. Two seasons ago they allowed Andy Carroll to move to Liverpool for £35million and did not have time to replace him before the transfer window closed.
But talk that Newcastle were lining up Marseille striker Loic Remy is wide of the mark.
Newcastle are missing no fewer than NINE first-team players but boss Alan Pardew does not want to use injuries and suspension as an excuse for his side’s rather alarming slide down the Premier League table.

This is certainly an interesting time of the season as its getting close to the January transfer window and I am sure because of the form he is in, many clubs will be sniffing around him. Lets hope Newcastle sort this out quickly as he is a key aspect of the team.

Mobile Computing

Mobile computing is a vert interesting topic. I already had some general knowledge of mobile computing as I have been learning about this in my Bus Admin class which involved learning the components and characteristics of mobile computing. I find it very interesting  how mobile computing has effected our way of living and the impacts it has on our future.
When it comes to mobile computing, everyone can see how this dream has become reality; and continues to evolve into smaller and better, making reality even easier for all of us.The dream to get computers in very home and work environment became reality. As each year went by in the computing industry, smaller and better has been the dream and became reality for many. While things continued to evolve everyone wanted to see the laptop in the palm of our hands. At the same time the computer was becoming smaller, it opened the field of smaller and better cell phone; thus mating together the cell phone and hand held palm computer into the  smart-phones of today, which has opened the field of mobile computer as we know it today and what it is going to become in the future.
However mobile computing has had far-reaching effects on our social behavior and cultural progression. The ease with which they enable us to communicate with each other has led to a decrease in face-to-face meetings and real one-to-one physical human interaction. Those that grow up getting used to impersonal communication on their mobile phones can find themselves incapable of dealing with even simple day-to-day human interaction.

Cloud Computing Week 9- Part 2

I see cloud computing as software and hardware that is used a service over a network, for example the internet,-World Wide Web is a service over the internet and I believe this is an example that can be used to describe cloud computing. I like the idea of cloud computing because it provides infrastructure services, storage services and of course security service’s which is something I think that everyone wants because of information people can access over the web these days can be a little bit too much. Privacy is a concern for me and I’m sure is for most people especially businesses when your considering data, I don’t think too many companies would be happy if their data which they transfer or store on service online was exposed in some way or another.

https://twitter.com/SkySportsNews

The blog page I have chosen to discuss is related to my previous personal posts which is sports. Sky sports News is the biggest sporting news channel in Europe, It covers every sport in the world and has first insight to breaking news from anywhere around the world. I chose the twitter page because I use this everyday and I thought it would be best to write about something I am familiar with. It provides live blog tweets of everything that is going on during their TV operating hours and I never miss a thing. The best thing about it I have subscribed this twitter page to give me live updates on my phone so whenever there is a breaking headline, I will receive a message to inform me. Because Sky Sports News is not a TV channel in the US I find it great to have such services online so I can keep up to date with the latest news.

Social Media

Remember back in the day when we worked from 9-5, nights and weekends were reserved for friends and family, and never the twain shall meet? Now that an estimate 23% of American workers telecommute  many use online social networks as a way to stay connected to co-workers and colleagues. Those who are chained to a company desk often use (or sneak onto) Twitter or Facebook to stay in touch with friends outside of work.

It's possible that these social networking tools are just the beginning of something, that they could lead to ways of finding and interacting with one another we never imagined, but whatever happens, you can't dismiss these tools easily. They are taking us somewhere exciting, but we have to work out how we deal with the fading boundaries these tools have left in their wake and that means rewriting our social rules as we go along.
Social networking services expand the pool of people we have the opportunity to meet to near limitless possibilities. We're no longer restricted to or rely on people in our neighborhood, church, or workplace to provide the interaction we desire.
Of course, getting to know others online is not a new concept, it dates back to the earliest days of Bulletin Board Services (BBS), IRC, and CompuServe. The main differences now are the real-time ways we communicate via instant messaging, Facebook walls, and Twitter replies. It more closely mimics face-to-face conversations than interactions via email, forums, or message boards, but it also means there are a lot more opportunities for social gaffes and missteps.

Barclay's Premier League - week 8

After the international break, there is often a need to settle back into the accustomed pace of the league and current form becomes somewhat of an unreliable barometer in the appraisal of teams. This weekend offers some intriguing fixtures, none bigger than the London derby that will determine the true quality of the Chelsea team. Manchester United look to be the team that stands to gain the most from this weekend’s fixtures while a fiery Tyne-Side derby awaits on Sunday that could prove one of the more unpredictable games of the weekend

A Tyne Side derby teeming with significance, this fixture could represent a catalyst for either team in their relative campaigns. Sunderland have had quite a lackluster start to the season and will be hoping that Newcastle are still licking their wounds following their comprehensive loss to Manchester United. Both teams look in need of inspiration and this should reflect in a hard fought draw.

Information Resources - RSS

For This week,  my class assignment required me to learn about Aggregators and RSS. The following text is my interpretation for my assignment.

Google News: Latest news from around the glob https://news.google.com/news/

The information provided within this library is all up to date and is constantly being subscribed to. With me being a Google user and making it my home web browser page, it is easy for me to access Google news. Why I prefer this to others is the fact I can narrow my searches for example If I wanted to find out the latest football (soccer) stories from the UK, I don't have to sit and look through thousands of posts that covers the sport all around the globe, instead I can filter my search to the country that I want to find the information about. This is great for me and not just for sport but latest headline news and reading bloggers opinions on different topics is great.

If football (soccer) interests you, I am going to post a weekly blog about the English Premier League and what is going on looking into the weekend games.

Well its good to see Newcastle United had a great season last year which has lead to Alan Pardew (Manger) to signing a new 8 year contract. With the arrival of Cisse in January, it led him to score 13 goals in the last half of the season and left Demba Ba struggling to find form. However coming into the new season the tables have turned, Demba Ba has came out scoring goals for fun and is currently the Premier Leagues top goalscorer on the other hand Cisse has struggled to pick up where he left off last season but I'm sure it will not be too long until he finds his way again, lets just hope it's sooner rather than later.
